Ode to a Groundhog

Each and every year,

we long to see the day if

Mr. Groundhog will arise

and leave his hole to play.

February ‘two’ is the date,

for us to be aware.

It is the special day

when we should stop and stare.

If Groundhog sees his shadow,

Six more weeks of winter we will see, if

he does not retreat,

spring will arise with heartfelt glee.

Dear Groundhog we need your great wisdom,

so we can make our plans

as Highland Rim Retreats,

is ready for its fans.

There’s golf, kayaking and fishing,

lots of great fun awaits.

Please tell us Mr. Winter is gone,

for we’re ready to escape.

they have horseback riding too.

I just can’t wait to play,
